It's been nearly two weeks since the 2018 World Championships kicked off, and now that the dust has settled and the data is clear, let's jump into the top 10 matches everyone has been watching. The most-watched matches have a succinct way of delivering most the event's biggest storylines—Shane Jamil Hill-Taylor became the fifth American World Champion ever, Nicholas Meregali took on the black establishment, the decision of the Keenan Cornelius vs. Patrick Gaudio match, and Buchecha's triumph, to name just a few. However, to our surprise—and excitement—four colored belt matches have made the list! The conclusion of Roberto Jimenez's epic purple belt absolute campaign clocked in at third. Samuel Hatchwell and Jonatha Alves' incredible match in the purple belt lightweight final is fifth. Ex-pro football player blue belt ultra-heavyweight MONSTER Jason Shirley's final is ranked at nine, and Kennedy Maciel's quarterfinal with Husyen Eldar rounds out the list at No. 10.

WORLD JIU-JITSU CHAMPIONSHIP 2014 – PRE-SCHEDULE

The organization may schedule fights for Wednesday, May 28th, if the number of athletes registered exceeds our capacity to fit the event in four days.

Please refer to the pre-schedule for travel arrangements.

IBJJF will confirm on May 22th if the tournament will start on Wednesday or Thursday.

American Top Team took the mats by storm at this year's Boca Raton International Open held by IBJJF. This new South Florida tournament location was added to the IBJJF just this year, as the growth of the sport is phenomenal in the Florida region. And the turn out for a first time location was great. Many competitors in the area were happy to have an additional option in the Florida area. We spoke with some who would love for the Worlds of Pan Ams to be held back in Orlando again, to give the East Coast a fair shot at some bigger titles.

2013 ADCC Champions - Breakdown for 66KG & 77KG Divisions

We’ve said it before --- Some of the most dangerous competitors are the ones that go on a long time losing streak. The ones tweaking and perfecting their game, and relentlessly returning to compete on the mat. This has proven true at the this year’s Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Submission Wrestling World Championship. Do not rely on previous competition results…because that will give you very little insight onto what is happening in the World of Jiu Jitsu. Here is a quick break down by weight categories:

-66 kg / 145.5 lbs  Division
The final match in the 66KG division was between  Rafael Mendes and Rubens “Cobrinha” Charles was probably the most predictable final of all the categories – with probably two of the biggest rivals in the sport of Jiu Jitsu.
